Veterans Memorial Park Monterey is an attractive 50 acre park in the woody hills of Monterey. It is located just a few miles from Downtown Monterey. This park consists of rolling hills, a large pavilion, grassy picnic areas, camping areas and a publicly recreation building.

The park includes climbing trails under towering Monterey Pine forest and bay views. It also has a Memorial Plaza that contains a number of different monuments and memorials. About 30 RV sites and 10 tent sites are available and nice hiking trails with ocean views.

The National Steinbeck Center Monterey is located in Monterey County and was founded in 1983. This museum is a tribute to Nobel award winning author John Steinbeck, his hometown, and offers readings, workshops and speakers. It was opened to the public on June 27, 1998.  It focuses on activities to encourage learning about literature, human nature, history, farming, and the arts.
