Monarch Grove Butterfly Sanctuary located on tip of the Monterey Peninsula, opened from late October to February where thousands of butterflies make a stop in a Pacific Grove eucalyptus grove, the preferred Monarch butterfly habitat, during their migration to warmer climates.

The trees are the perfect microclimate for the monarchs with the appropriate humidity, light, shade, temperature, and shelter from wind. Basketball-sized clusters of what at first appear to be brown leaves rustle and stir. Their migration to Pacific Grove is so unitique and inspiring that Pacific Grove is nicknamed “Butterfly Town, U.S.A. The Monarch Grove Butterfly Sanctuary is free of charge, and visitors are invited to visit, watch, admire and take Monarch butterflies photos, videos to view this incredible natural display.
